They profess to know God, but deny and disown and renounce Him by what they do; they are detestable and loathsome, unbelieving and disobedient and disloyal and rebellious, and [they are] unfit and worthless for good work (deed or enterprise) of any kind.
To know God is to know His character. God is love, merciful, just, kind, holy, and patient. As believers, we are responsible to exemplify the character of God in our daily walk. That means we are to extend love, be patient, be dispensers of grace, act justly, live holy and be kind. When we profess to know God but our actions, language and activities we part take in do not match His character we are viewed as hypocrites to the world. And, we rob people of a tangible connection to God’s love. When we profess to know Him and yet, fail to imitate His character we hinder people who desperately need a connection with Him from making that connection. Let’s be honest, who would want to serve a God who’s people are mean and unjust. How can we encourage holy living and we aren’t living holy ourselves? Be encouraged the exemplify God’s character this week every chance you get!
